As we celebrate Labor Day this weekend, we are reminded that summer is quickly coming to an end and the autumn season is fast approaching. As always this means a full calendar for us here at Saint Timothy’s and Saint Bartholomew’s, especially with school beginning and, in conjunction with that, the beginning of a new parish year. We pray for God’s blessing on the students of our Blessed Trinity School, who begin their new academic year this Tuesday, as well as on our wonderful faculty, who have been working so hard in these past weeks to make sure everything is in readiness for the children’s return. We offer this blessing on the students of our diocesan high schools, as well, who also begin school this week, as well as all of our young people who attend other schools, and our college students. May the school year 2023-2024 be filled with much success for all of you.
I once again remind those parents whose children do not attend Catholic school of your obligation to ensure that your children are educated in our Catholic faith. Our Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.) exists for this purpose. From September through May, classes are held every Wednesday afternoon, from 4:30 to 5:45 P.M. Children in Grades Kindergarten through 8 who do not attend Catholic school should attend. Mrs. Cheryl Kirschman, our devoted Coordinator of Religious Education, and our dedicated PREP faculty, provide an excellent learning environment for our children to learn about the faith. If you have not enrolled your child in our PREP for the 2023-2024 school year, please call the rectory as soon as possible to do so. This is especially important if your child needs to receive the Sacraments of Penance, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the rectory and Mrs. Kirschman would be happy to answer them. I call to your attention the ad in this bulletin regarding ChristianInitiation for Adults. This process will be beginning in the fall. This journey of faith is for those adults and young adults who have never been baptized, those who were baptized in another Christian denomination and would like to be received into the Catholic Church, and those who were baptized Catholic but never were catechized and/or never received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. If you or anyone you know falls into any of these categories, please call the Rectory to speak with me, so that you/they can begin this journey and be received into the Church at Eastertime.
Because this Monday, September 4, is Labor Day, our morning Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 in the lower church.
This coming Wednesday, September 6, we will resume our weekly Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Exposition takes place every Wednesday morning in the lower church, from after the 8:30 Mass until 12:00 Noon. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament is celebrated at Noon. If you are able, why not come and spend some time with our Eucharistic Lord, interceding for the needs of the Church and the world, as well as for your own needs?
Know that you and those you love are daily remembered in my Mass and my prayers.
