Weekend of May 11-12, 2024

Dear Friends,

I ask you to remember in your prayers in a special way the three men who will be ordained to the priesthood next Saturday, May 18, in the Cathedral-Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Let us ask God to bless these courageous men with the same gifts which filled the Apostles, as they go forth to proclaim the reality of God’s Kingdom to a world that so desperately needs them.

Please remember in your prayers as well, we, your parish priests, who are celebrating the anniversaries of our ordinations. Father Noone is celebrating 57 years, Father Jack is celebrating 25 years, Father Dalton is celebrating 52 years, Father Lane is celebrating 2 years, and I am celebrating 30 years. Please pray that we may continue to serve you and all God’s people with joy and with apostolic zeal. Please pray, as well, that more young men will answer the call to serve the Lord and his Church as priests, especially here in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and as Oblates of Saint Francis de Sales.

On this coming Thursday, May 16^th at 1:00 P.M., our school children will be participating in our annual May Procession to honor our Blessed Lady. This is always a beautiful tribute to the Mother of God, and a perfect way for us to express our devotion to her, our greatest intercessor and advocate. This year, the children will process up Hawthorne Street, up Levick Street, and into the upper church, where Our Lady will be crowned, and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will be celebrated. I cordially invite all our parishioners to join our children in this loving tribute.

We are once again participating in the archdiocesan Manna food drive. The brown Manna bags are available for pick up in church this weekend. We ask every family/household to take a bag and fill it with non-perishable food items for the benefit of our sisters and brothers who are most in need. We ask you to return your filled bag to church by next week, or as soon as possible. The food collected will be brought to Catholic Social Services’ Northeast Family Service Center to help replenish their food bank. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
